Grandpa (Frank) and Granny (Tammy) came up to McKinney to spend the weekend with us. Since we will not be able to make it to Austin before Christmas John was able to have an early Christmas with his grandparents. John was given some really fun toys, great books, and a BMW Baby Racer that he LOVES. Every time I turn around he is trying to get onto his car and wants to be pushed. I think once he grows about another inch he will be able to push it on his on, but for now his horsepower comes from mommy and daddy.
We also went out to eat a few times and Grandpa and Granny were able to see what a good eater John is. Grandpa made sure he ordered something that John could eat at each meal and had a fun time feeding him. He was even so lucky as to learn that John shows not mercy with his teeth and was able to feel the power of his front eight teeth.
Speaking of teeth last night I felt two more teeth. I knew one was coming in, but then discovered that he has another tooth coming in on the opposite side. John now has 10 teeth and I am pretty sure he is going to be asking for steak in a few weeks. He also tried a new fruit, cantaloupe, and he loved it. Jason tried to put more cantaloupe in his mesh feeder (the mesh feeder helps to avoid chocking) and John would not give it up.
Another very exciting moment over the weekend was that John took his first step. Grandpa and Granny where playing with him on the floor and helping him walk in between them. Next thing I knew John took one step all on his own. It was a very exciting moment for everyone. John has been doing a great job of walking with Jason and I just holding one of our hands, but still was unsure about making that first step. I think he will be walking before his first birthday.
On Friday I received my Masters hood in the mail. On Saturday December 19th at 10am in Houston I will be graduating with my Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I entered the Family Therapy program in the Fall of 2007 and will have finished in two in a half years. Most students finish this program in three years, some take longer. I am really proud that even with having a baby I was able to finish this program in less than three years. Although I feel like I have been in the program for forever.
