Taylor is TWO!

Dear Taylor,

On Thursday October 18th, you turned two years old. You have grown so much this past year and I cannot wait to see what this year brings. At two years old you are loving life. You love to talk, sing, and dance every where you go. Some of your favorite songs to sing include "Old MacDonald", "Five Little Monkeys", "ABC's", "Ants Marching", and "The Wheels on the Bus".

Anytime you hear music you like to get up and dance. In September we enrolled you in a ballet and tap class. You were so excited to go and loved putting on your cute ballet outfit. When we arrived for your first lesson you were super shy and stayed close to me, but you still enjoyed dancing next to me and watching your classmates. We plan to try dance again when you are a little older. In the mean time you have enjoyed giving mommy and daddy dance lessons at home. I think you have taught me pretty well, daddy on the other hand will need a lot of work. I promise you that daddy really can dance and that he will not embarrass you on your wedding day.

Let's talk about you and your talking. You have so much to say and we love listening to you. It is so fun listening to your thought process as you talk things out. I also love catching you as you play with your dolls, moving them around and talking for them. You are not shy about letting us know what you think or how you feel. Lately you let us know when you are frustrated by standing tall, crossing your arms over your chest, and looking down. It is really hard not to smile and laugh a little because you have no idea how cute you are.

With you adding another year under your belt we have had to use time outs and some days you make me laugh even when your in trouble. One day you were throwing the biggest fit, I tried to talk with you about what was going on and to explain to you why you were not getting a certain item. You wanted none of my explanation, you just wanted to have your fit. So, I told you that you could go to your room and sit in your time out chair until you were ready to stop throwing your fit. You looked up at me, stopped crying, and said, "Ok mommy I am done now, no time out, I am all finished". And with that you got up off the floor and went back to playing, nicely.

Speaking of playing, the last few weeks you have grown a love for all things princess related. I have no idea where the sudden change came from, but we love your new found interest. In September you wanted to be Spider man just like your big brother for Halloween, so I bought you both Spiderman outfits. Now, in October you want to be a princess for Halloween. It has been fun pulling out all of my classic VHS princess Disney movies and watching them with you. You also love to wear bows in your hair now and carry around your purse.

State of Texas 2012

On Friday we went to the State Fair of Texas. We go each year and it has become a great annual family tradition. I wish I would have taken my large digital camera but I was a little uneasy about taking it to the fair, so for now its the point in shoot.

First stop is always a photo in front of Big Tex.

Next its Fletcher's corny dogs, the only corny dog worth eating at the fair, It never disappoints.

I really wish I would have taken a recording here. Jason is explaining to the kids what the large water wheel behind him does and how people use to use it way back when. I am pretty sure they lost interest as soon as they saw their daddy take a seat, that only means one thing, a long explanation.

We made our way around to the animals, which the kids enjoy the most.

Each year this pig is at the Fair and I am pretty sure he is always in the same position. I do not think I have ever seen him move, clearly though he is getting to his food.

John putting up his longhorns. Taylor is trying, but she needs a little work.

I have no idea what Taylor was doing, but it was just to funny not to take a picture of her doing it.

Here we tried to explain to John that the cow is where he gets his morning milk from.

Its always fun to see the big tractors they have out.

This was our first year doing this kid activity. Each child walks around being a farmer. You have to feed the animals, gather the eggs and veggies, then drop everything off.

This year they had a Chinese lantern garden, but it cost extra so we just took a photo of the entrance.

After we made our lap around the Fair grounds it was time to head back to the car.

See you in 2013 State Fair of Texas!
