Week and Weekend Fun!

Fathers Day
Sunday
On Sunday Mamaw came to spend the day with us and have lunch. John loved having her at the house. Here is a photo of the two snuggling up to a few good books.

Monday
My Birthday
On Monday I turned 27. I had some of my sweet mommy friends over that morning and we just hung out. We had a fun time talking and watching the kids play. Here is a picture from later in the day after Taylor was asleep for the night. Jason, John, and I just hung out on the back porch listening to some music and watching the bubbles float by. It was a wonderful day.

Tuesday
Each day Taylor is getting better and better and standing on her own.

Wednesday
Its never to early to dream about awesome cars.

Friday Morning
Friday Morning I took John and Taylor to a zero entry level pool. Being a stay at home mom I do not feel safe taking the kids to a normal pool by myself. However, my friend introduce me to this pool and I am in love. We will be going at least once a week for the rest of the summer with friends. The pool is a giant circle and all the way around it is zero level entry which is great for Taylor. Plus as you can see form some of the pictures there is also plenty of shade. There are also two life guards on duty for the kids pool, one at the end of each slide.

No matter where John is in this pool I can keep an eye on him and Taylor can play in the water as well. The center of the pool where the slides are is the deepest point and only goes up to Johns knees. This is great for him because he can go where ever he wants and I dont have to worry about him finding the deep end of a pool. Plus I can follow him around while holding Taylor where ever he wants to go.

It did not take John to long to find the slides. He went down both over and over and over again.

Friday Afternoon Father & Son Movie
For Fathers day John and I made Cars 2 movie tickets as a gift for Jason. On friday Jason and John went to see the movie. Here John is with popcorn in hand and his pacifier just in case he got scared in the dark. Jason said John did great and had no issues with the dark. When they got home John could not wait to tell me all about the movie.

Saturday on the Square
After swim lessons on Saturday we all headed to the down town McKinney square area for lunch. We ate at a hamburger place, which was not to bad. Then we walked around looking at a few shops. Finally we came across a Mom and Pop candy store and boy did we have fun. We left with enough sugar to keep us all awake for a few days.

We love our kids!!!

Finally Thoughts
This is going to be my last post about John and potty training. As of Friday he is fully out of diapers and has had no accidents in over two weeks. John started his potty training adventure on Wednesday June 1st and it ended on Friday June 24th, three weeks and two days later. John surpassed my expectations ten fold and we could not be more proud of him.

Happy Fathers Day!

Two of the most important men in my life.
Happy Fathers Day!

Taylor is 8 Months old

Another month has come and gone and now little miss Taylor is 8 months old. Each month brings out more of her personality. She LOVES to be with John and she will play just has rough with him. I find myself telling Taylor to be play nice more often then I have to tell John.

She also LOVES to go outside. If you are holding her and you get anywhere near a door she starts smiling and her legs go crazy, kicking at the air to get out that door. She gets so upset if I let Poindexter outside to go potty and we do not go outside with him. She is not a big fan of the grass or patio feeling yet, but she loves the little plastic pool. John and Taylor can spend hours outside between the play set swings and the pool.

Taylor is trying more table food and so far likes everything she has tried. John usually eats oatmeal for breakfast and every once in a while blueberry waffles, Taylor has enjoyed both. I try to let her try little bits of what ever we are eating if I think she can handle it.

Other things that are new is that she loves to talk back to John which ends up just sounding like yelling. She loves to hear her own voice and she can hit some pretty high notes. Its funny to watch her with John because it will be clear that she wants to be doing what he is or playing with what he is playing with. For whatever reason John likes to place himself or the item just out of her reach. She will just flat out look at him and "yell" telling him what she thinks.

Last night we headed out to dinner with three other family friends of ours. The restaurant is located in an area that has a splash pad and stage for live music. It was really nice to listen to the live band and watch the kids play together. The only downside was that the band had requested to not have the splash pad fountain turned on all the way because it was windy. So there really was not much water at all for all the kids that were there to play in. However all of our boys still found ways to have fun in the sun.

Potty Training Update
Today is day 18 and its going great. Since Wednesday John has not had a wet diaper at all, not at nap time, bed time, or car rides. He has used the potty every single time. Wednesday night he woke up a few times asking to go pee pee, which he did and then back to bed. He does everything on his own now. Today I let him try napping with his big boy underwear on and he slept for four hours. I thought for sure I would need to clean the sheets as soon as he woke up. However, as soon as he was up he asked to go potty, he woke up dry after four hours!!!

I still think I am going to keep him in a diaper for night time at least for another week or so. If he keeps waking up to go potty and/or wakes up dry I will start trying underwear all the time for nap and nighttime. For now I think we are done with diapers for nap time.

For car rides we are going to stick with diapers a little longer. He has not gone in his diaper while in the car for at least a week now, but the thought of having to take his seat out and clean it sounds like such a pain. So I am going to give him just a little longer. Right now he goes potty great on his little potty and has gone on the big potty a few times as well, but not as much and not in public places. Once we get that part down we will be diaper free.

We may just be diaper free by July. I cant believe John is potty trained, I never thought it would be as easy as it has been and I think i honestly just lucked out with John. I have a feeling Taylor is not going to be as easy, but she could just surprise me.

Happenings

Below are photos taken with my new iPhone, that I swore I would never get. The quality is not great, but it is a great way to catch a moment when I do not have my camera around or with me.

Taylor being adventurous.
She did this little number on her own.
I did not think she could do it, but as you can see she sure did.

This morning I took the kids to Target to get some things.

Both of them watching Dora.

Today is the end of day 13 of Potty training. It is going really well. Since we started, John has only had four peepee accidents and no poo poo ones. On Sunday he started wearing his real big boy underwear and it is going much better then I expected. He still wears a diaper during nap time, night time, and car rides. However the last two days he has woken up dry from his nap and is asking to go straight to the potty. At night he is doing the same, he will get in bed and realize he needs to go and will call for Jason or I. We will get him out of bed and he will go potty then back to bed it is.

For the most part he will tell me when he needs to go, pull down his underwear (sometimes he needs help) and then goes potty. Other times he will just go straight to the potty and do it all by himself and not tell me until he is done. With getting to wear big boy underwear his reward for going potty has increased and he really enjoys his new treat. I am not sure what I am going to give as a reward for my "phase three" phase, and no there is no method I am following word for word so these "phases" are all my own. So far they are working really well with John and I hope it keeps on this positive path.
