The Little Gym

During the week John went to his first The Little Gym class. We will go once a week for about an hour during the summer. Here are a few pictures from the day. John had a fun time and I am looking forward to watching him try more new things with each class.

McKinney Petting Farm

A few girlfriends found a private petting farm in McKinney so we headed over their earlier this week. It was a really nice small farm. The owner and her husband started the petting farm about six years ago and it was originally only open to those families with special needs children, but they have opened it to other small groups. They only take reservations which is nice because it was just our group of friends and our kids for three hours.

Calling 911

Today we spent a wonderful sunny day outside with my grandparents and other family. They enjoyed watching John play with the water hose filling up empty flowering pots. After a while we went inside for a cool down break and to get a snack. While I was getting some things together in the kitchen John was in the living room entertaining papaw and mamaw. My grandparents have a phone in the loving room with large dial buttons on it so they can see each number clearly. This phone also has a large emergency button that if pressed dials 911.

I hear the phone buttons and as I am telling John that we do not play with the phone I notice "911" on the caller screen. The dispatcher calls back and I explain what happened. They said they still needed to send an officer over to the house just to make sure everything was ok. When the officer knocked on the door I took John with me. I explained what happened and told the officer that she was more than welcome to explain to him that we only call 911 for emergency's, but I am not sure he will understand that right now. The officer was really nice and laughed. She gave John a police sticker and was on her way.

The good thing out of all of this is that we now know for sure that pressing that one button will in fact call 911.

Houston Weekend Trip

We loaded up and traveled down to Houston this weekend to get in some friend and family time. We arrived late Friday and stayed with JanMa. John had fun playing hide the object and have JanMa find it game.

Saturday morning at 7:30am we headed over to visit the twins. It is amazing to watch the twins grow and crazy to think that not that long ago John was meeting those same milestones.

Claire and Uncle Jason take a walk.
Everyone is eating breakfast.

Once the twins went down for their late morning nap at around 11, we headed to Lorissa's house to a good bye BBQ. A few weeks ago Lorissa's husband, Mark, was given a promotion and they are moving to Denver. The promotion and move are happening really fast, Mark leaves on Tuesday to start work.
John and Heidi
Yesterday and today were moving days for the Ike's. The moving company was literally packing up the house while we were having the BBQ. Yes, it was crazy, but we had a great time.

Jason explains the logistics of moving day to John and Heidi.
My best friend Lorissa and I, she is also pregnant and is due one month after me. I hate to see her move, but this is not the end of our friendship. Instead of making the three hour drive to see each other we will be taking the short flight to see them in Denver. Plus Lorissa and Marks families live in Dallas so there is still going to be plenty of Ike and Robin family time together.

John had a great trip he was worn out.

17 Week Baby Checkup

On Monday I went in for my 17 week check up to check the babies heartbeat, take my blood pressure etc... The baby is doing great, heartbeat was perfect, and I am measuring right on target. I am up 3 pounds, but since I lost a pound my first trimester it is noted as being up plus 2 pounds. This is quite the change from my pregnancy with John where I gained a total of almost 60 pounds.

In fact this entire pregnancy has been nothing but the opposite of my pregnancy with John. With John I had horrible morning sickness from 6 weeks until 16 weeks. This time around I really have not had morning sickness at all and the times that I have felt bad have only been in the early morning hours. Weight gain so far is different than it was with John, but I still have a ways to go.
When I was pregnant with John I felt him move when I was 19 weeks along. This time around I have felt the baby at 16 weeks and each week I feel a little more and more often.

Our next appointment is scheduled for Friday, June 4th. This is the appointment where we will hopefully find out if we are having a boy or a girl. People have asked us if we have an idea of what we will be having. Jason as always is pretty neutral on the topic, although he strongly believes we are programmed to have nothing but boys.

Since this pregnancy has been so opposite for me I can not help but think we are having a girl. However, I also know that this theory of mine really does not hold much water. I think it would be neat to have a girl, even though I am far from the girly type. However, there is something very nice about the known, that is I know how a boy works already. Plus we already have everything we could ever need for a boy. One of my SIL's has pulled out the Chinese gender chart and according to her and the chart this baby will be a girl, she was right for John and also for her own daughter.

As for names we have a name for a girl that we both agree on, but if we have another boy we just can not get on the same page. Personally, I am having a hard time thinking of a boy name that will be just as strong, and sound just as good as Johns full name.

I guess we will find out in about three weeks.

Mother's Day Weekend

Mother's day was really Mother's day weekend for us. Friday morning John brought me my mothers day gift before he left for school. It was a beautiful charm bracelet from James Avery with four small pendents hanging from it. Two pendents are the birth stone for John (February) and two are the birth stone for the new baby who will be born in October. I was able to wear my bracelet that day to a meeting I had all day.

On Saturday, Jason's mom came into town to spend some time with John. Later that day we went out for an early Mother's day dinner at Chuy's. John put away a entire enchilada plus some beans. John had a great time showing his JanMa all the new things he can do.

On Sunday, the official day of Mother's day we spend time with my family. Later that day we went home and enjoyed some time alone as a family, watching some Disney movies.
