Johns Doctor says he is doing great. He is meeting all his milestones. John has another tooth coming in towards the upper back on his left side. Once this tooth breaks through Johns tooth count will be at 9.
For the last few weeks we have been introducing table foods to John. He is doing really well and hopefully in a month or two if not sooner John will be eating only table food with us. Some of the foods John has had so far are turkey, chicken, rice, tomatoes, pasta, bread, pancakes, bananas, apples, grapes, sweet potatoes, peaches, pears, oatmeal, stuffing, and of course pumpkin pie. He gets a little of what ever I have cooked for dinner that night. Foods we are avoiding until John is a year old or older are eggs, peanuts, whole milk, and chocolate.
About a month ago after months of research I finally picked out two convertible car seats for John. We have been using them for the past month and I am really happy with my choices. John now has so much more room to stretch out, plus I do not have to lug that heavy car seat around anymore.
For the past two weeks John has been standing on his own. It started off with him holding onto a piece of furniture and then unknowingly letting go. He would stand there for a few seconds before realizing what he was doing. Once he realized he was not holding onto anything he would grab onto something or just sit down. Each day he stands on his own longer and longer building up more confidence and smiling as he does so. Yesterday John went from sitting, to getting on his feet in a squatting position, to standing on his own in the middle of the room with no help, and nothing to help him up, I was shocked. He did it twice back to back.
Other things John has been doing for the past month or so are clapping, standing on his own, walking along the furniture, walking with his walker back and forth on carpet and tile, taking baths in the big tub, and eating table food.
He is also showing more interest in books. We read to him every day and have a few hard cover books in the living room for him to play with. Every time I turn around it seems that John is doing something new. It is so much fun watching him explore things figuring out how things work. I think we might have a little engineer on our hands. He loves to figure out how stuff works.
