We had a busy and fun 4th of July that kicked off bright and early with the local downtown McKinney parade. Later that night the kids got to stay up way past their bed time to watch the fireworks, but it was worth it.
My patriotic craft this year, my front door wreath. I think it turned out cute, I have had a few people knock on our door asking about it.
We had a awesome parking spot this year for the parade. We were able to back the car up right along the parade path and watch from the cool shade from the car.
First in line at the parade were the fire trucks. John was prepared for the noise.
There must have been over a hundred motorcycles ...
and they were loud!
This guy was interesting, in fact we saw a few interesting things in this years parade.
What's a small town parade without a tractor, in fact there were a few tractors.
Taylor kept saying, "Wave, hi, wave, look at that, wave, wave, wow!" as she waved, it was cute.
Poor horse was painted like a flag
Later that night we decided to give the fireworks a try. We were not sure how it would go since the fireworks would not start until almost 10pm, but we gave it a try. Friends joined us on our fireworks mission and we all had a great time. The kids enjoyed the fireworks for about two minutes then just played the rest of the time.
John, Hayley, and Taylor, hanging out in the back of our car.
Jason got a picture of John and Hayley holding hands during the fireworks show, how cute is that!?!
All in all the 4th of July was fun, hot, and a long day, but we all had a really great time.
