John is Four

What a fun few days we have been having at the Robin house. On Saturday we celebrated John turning four years old with friends and family at Strikz bowling alley. That night, Jason and John went to watch Monster Jam at the Cowboy Stadium, it has become an annual tradition. Sunday morning we had breakfast with Janma and Mimi before they headed back to Houston. On Monday we meet with friends and played and later that evening when Jason got home we took John out for a birthday dinner.

Tuesday morning, Johns official birthday, we sang him Happy Birthday and he got to open some gifts. Then we headed off to school where his teachers and friends helped him celebrate some more. I ordered pizza for his class to have a birthday pizza lunch, needless to say the kids enjoyed the pizza and there were no leftovers. Dinner at home was John's pick and he picked pizza again. We ended the evening with the top tier of his Spiderman cake from his party and opened more gifts.

Fixing his Ship

John decided that the water table ship needed some work to get it ready for some upcoming fun.

While the kids had the flu we were stuck inside. I used that time to do some Spring cleaning and re-organizing. I came across John's old Lightning McQueen sandals and although he really needs a bigger size he was determined to wear them all day to prove to me that they do indeed fit.

Zoo With Friends

A few weeks ago we took advantage of the sunny day we had and headed to the zoo with friends. The older kids have been friends since they learned how to walk. I love this group of kids and look forward to them growing up together.

Here is a picture of all eight of them, my friend Laura took it, cute group right !?!

The Flu

About a week and a half ago John woke up with a low grade temperature of 99.7 so I gave him some Tylenol and kept an eye on him. I called my friend and let her know I needed to cancel our morning get together, I just was not sure what was going on with John and I knew both of her girls just got over from being sick. She told me to keep a eye on him and that if his fever went up within a few hours to take him to the Doctor since the flu has been going around and that it comes on fast.

I decided to hold off giving him any more med's to see if his temperature would go up. Aside from the low fever he was acting pretty normal. He just looked like his allergies were bothering him. After nap time I took his temperature and it was 101. I called his pediatrician who only had a 6:10pm appointment left, I took it. Jason had school that night so I was going to have to do this solo. The pediatricians office called back shortly after hanging up and let me know they had someone just call and cancel so we could go in a hour earlier and I was very thankful.

At 5:45pm we were headed out of the pediatricians office with a positive flu test and two prescriptions for tamiflu. After I dropped of the prescription they told me it would be ready at 7:30, mind you my kids are bathed and in bed by 7, it was going to be a late night. At 7 we loaded back into the car and got in the drive threw line at the pharmacy. When it was finally our turn I noticed they had made the incorrect dosage which meant they needed to redo the prescription. Finally, at 8:20 we pulled away and headed back home. I felt horrible that I had the kids out so late, but they were troopers and thought it was a fun adventure. I on the other hand was worn out, it had been a long day to say the least.

It was crazy how fast the flu developed. In less than 12 hours we went from low grade fevers and thinking it was not a big deal, to getting positive flu test and getting medication started ASAP. And to think Jason missed all the fun, ha ha! He finally got home from school around 11pm that night and took over watching over the kids. He set his alarm every few hours to check on them and give them medication, love that man!

Thankfully, the Tamiflu worked wonders. Both of the kids woke up with no fever. I was so grateful that we caught it in time so we could use Tamiflu, not so thankful for the price tag attached to it. Here is a sweet picture of the two of them cuddling and coloring a picture together on the iPad.

John and his Monster Truck

For Christmas John got a huge remote controlled Monster truck, Son-Uva Digger, and it is awesome! John has become really good at controlling the Monster truck which at top speed can go 30 mph, crazy I know. Thankfully, it does have a way to reduce its power by half making it much more manageable and safe.

Jason and John have spent hours in the back having fun with this truck. Jason bought tickets again this year to go and see the Monster Jam truck show live, this time its just going to be the boys going. Taylor and I are going to go shopping and have dinner instead!

John and Taylor

I found both of the kids jumping around on my bed, pretending to be Spiderman and a princess, so I took some photos of the fun!

I was able to get them to stop long enough to get a photo of both of them. Love them!

John was explaining how to be a superhero.

Taylor on the other hand was more focused on singing.
