Fire Station Tour

Yesterday we went to a local Fire Station for a tour with friends. John was ready to go and excited with his toy fire truck and fire truck shoes on. When we got there the first thing he did was cover his ears, he thought for sure that at any moment it was going to get loud. The only experience John has with Fire trucks is when he sees them racing to a call and they are loud. He pretty much kept his hands over his ears the entire time.

John pushing Taylor around to see the fire truck.

Sitting on the back of the fire truck.

Covering his ears. Just to note, they never turned the sirens on, but John was prepared just in case.

John's First Day of School

August 23, 2011

Today was John's first day of school (Mothers Day Out). On Monday we went to the "Meet the Teacher Night". John got to meet his two new teachers and see his classroom. He loved playing with all the games and toys in the room. He even has some friends from his old class from last year.

At this age most kids start the potty training process or at least start talking about it. His classroom has a attached bathroom for those learning and for those already potty trained. One of John's teachers he has this year is one that he had last year, its so nice to already know a friendly face. John was so excited to see her. John told us that he needed to go potty and his teachers said we could use the bathroom in the classroom. Jason went in with him then walked out to get his teacher who he had last year. John was requesting that she help him go potty. I was so thankful he was ok with someone else helping him. It was one of my concerns going into this school year, but he has surprised us again.

This morning we loaded up the car and headed to school. John was excited to go play with all the new fun toys and his new friends. I had no idea how he would do when we finally made it to his classroom. Last year it took about two weeks for John to not cry when I dropped him off and almost the entire year before he would walk into the classroom on his own.

Today was different. John walked right into his classroom without looking back. I looked in the class to see if he realized that I was not standing with him. John could have cared less. He was already clear across the room playing with his new friends. I can not wait to pick him up later today and hear all about how his first day at school went! I love that he is growing up, but I am already sad at how fast these years pass. Before I know it Jason and I will be dropping him off at college.

Taylor on the other hand was sad that John was not leaving with us. She didnt cry, but she kept looking around for him.

Taylor is 10 Months old

Dear Taylor,

Today you are ten months old! Each day you are doing something new and keep me plenty busy. Here are some things you are doing now. I can not wait to see what the next month brings.

-You started taking steps at 9 months old. By 9 1/2 months you were half way across the room. Now in the last few days all you want to do is walk.

-You can get up from a seating position to standing and can even go from one knee to standing with no use of your hands, your legs are so strong.

-Playing with your brother is one of your favorite things to do. You play just as rough if not rougher then John, but you both seem to be enjoying yourself.

-Water water water, how you love playing in the water. We have spent so much time in the water this summer to cool off its no wonder you have become a water baby.

-You have discovered Poindexter's water and food bowl and no matter how many times I tell you "No" you still go for them daily.

-You still love putting anything and everything into your mouth. Thankfully your bitting interest have slowed way down, my fingers thank you.

-You still have eight teeth and you love brushing them with your Little Mermaid toothbrush.

-Your fear of other people has improved. Over the last month you let other people hold you, play with you, and love on you. At first you are still a little shy, but warm up fast. Everyone is loving being able to hold you now.

-Baby food is boring to you and if you see that I am feeding you baby food you protest. You can eat your weight in table food and your loving it.

-You love your straw sippy cup with water in it which is wonderful given the heat we have being having.

-You are such a talker, more so then John ever was at this age. You love telling us what you think of this or that.

-Your close to 20 pounds already and 30 inches tall. Your head is up to John's shoulders now.

-You are wearing a size 5 wide in shoes!

-You can reach the door handles and open the doors now.

-You are still a daredevil, always finding new things to climb.

-You love yourself and love giving your reflection kisses.

-You are still a awesome sleeper at night time and during naps. Right now you take two naps a day for about two hours each, some days your afternoon nap will be three hours long. You go to bed at about 7-7:30pm each night and wake up at 6-6:30am in the morning.
