29 Weeks Pregnant

Week 31 Appointment

This morning Jason and I went to our 31 week appointment to check how things are going. John's heart beat was strong at 144 bpm and he was kicking away. At the last appointment our Dr. said John's head was positioned down and he is still in that position today. Hopefully he will stay this way as time goes on. Our next appointment will be at 33 weeks.

Week 27 Appointment!

Everything is going well. I went in to take the one hour glucose test on Wednesday (27 weeks) and we got the result back on Thursday. I passed the test which means I do not have gestational diabetes, Yeah!!! However, I am having to increase my iron intake so I am now eating more iron enriched foods. I was also able to listen to his heart beat which is still strong!

John has been kicking more and more with each passing day. Not only can Jason and I feel Johns powerful kicks we are also able to see him kick as we watch my belly move. We have about 85 days until John's due date and we are very excited. John's room is coming together nicely. My mom gave us John's initials (JHR) to hang on the wall and they look great. We will post more pictures of the room soon!

Our appointments have gone from every four weeks to every two weeks so keep checking in for updates and photos!!!

John Howard's Nursery

Jason and I have begun putting together John's nursery. We still have a few more touches to add such as curtains to hang, but the room is coming together and looking great!

The new color goes up to make sure we like it.

The crib is together, wall decor is hung, and Poindexter has found his spot!

Feeling Movement!

At around 19 weeks I started to feel something, but was not sure if it was the baby or not. As the days past I kept feeling the same movement. During our 20 week ultrasound I asked our Dr about the movement and she agreed that I was feeling John move. Since that day I had been trying to help Jason feel John's movements as well.

The only problem is that John's kicks were not that powerful to be felt on the outside although I was feeling them on the inside. A few days ago I was able to feel a kick on my hand from the outside. Jason still was not able to feel the movement. Last night we laid down in bed and I placed Jason's hands over the spot were the baby kicks. It took a little while before John kicked big enough for Jason to feel him, but he did. Jason had a smile that stretched from ear to ear. I was so happy that Jason was finally able to feel his son move.

19 Week Appointment/ Big Ultrasound Day!!

It's A Boy!!!

On Thursday October 9th Jason and I went to our 19th week appointment to find out how baby Robin was doing and hopefully find out if we would be having a son or daughter.

A side note for the date of October 9th. Eight years ago on October 9th 2000 Jason and I started our relationship. Who would know that eight years from that date we would be married and expecting our first child. It was a great day to find out we would be having a boy!!!

Before the big day Jason and I had spent a few days guessing at what we would have. We talked about the pro's and con's of having a boy first vs a girl. For the life of me I could not get Jason to tell me he would prefer one over the other. He said that we would most likely have a boy given the Robin family history of having boys, however he was happy with either as long as the baby was healthy.

The same could not be said for me. At the beginning I was hoping for a girl since both sides of our families were lacking the joys of buying tutu's and having tea parties. About three weeks before we would find out the sex something changed inside me. I was craving the joys of having a little baby boy. The visions of tea parties changed to days of watching the UT game with his dad in his little UT collared shirt. The thought of watching our little boy look up to his big uncles Sam, Nick, Jeremy, Tim, Greg, Blaine, Blair, Thomas, and Nik was exciting.

So as the day became closer I was praying the ultrasound technician would utter the words, "Your having a boy!!". Instead she first said we would be having a girl. Needless to say I was a little shocked and so was Jason. I looked at the technician and said, "what ?" followed by, " What is the percentage that you are wrong". As I looked at Jason the technician said something, but of course my mind was trying to change gears from having a boy to having a girl. Then I heard Jason say, "Did you hear her she was wrong its a boy". My head swung hard right to look at the monitor. How in the world she missed the clear sign that this baby was a boy is beyond me, but she did. Needless to say I was so excited about the new outcome of having a boy.

After the visit and great news of having a boy Jason and I headed to breakfast and began calling family to share the exciting news. Our baby now had a name, John Howard Robin. His first name, John, was picked for its classic/strong sound. His middle name came from my dad who is a great man and someone we should all look up too.

15 Week Appointment!

Today is September 9th 2008 and I just got back from my 15 week appointment. Things are going good, I have gained about two pounds and hope to gain more as I start feeling better. Morning sickness hit me at week 6 and is still hanging out although not as bad. The babies heart beat is strong and still in the 150's. I asked the Dr about my crazy pickle eating habit and she said that for now that is ok. I also checked with her to see if corny dogs would be ok to eat since the State Fair is only a few weeks away, again she said go for it. Jason and I are getting really excited about the State Fair and are planning our day around the best State Fair food. Until last year when I went to the State Fair with my best friend I was blind to the amount of tasty and creative food they have at the State Fair.

One last thing....Our next appointment is set for Oct 9th 2008 and we are hoping that we will be able to find out the sex of baby Robin!!!! Very exciting!

9 Week Appointment!

Our first look at baby Robin!!
9 week 1 day

As you can tell I am catching up on posting. On July 31st Jason and I went to the first of many Dr appointments for the baby. After filling out tons of paper work we were able to see our little baby. We were measuring just as we thought at 9 weeks and 1 day. Our due date is March 4th 2009. We were able to not only see the baby, but hear his/her little heart beating at a strong 168 bpm.

After the ultra sound we met our Dr who is super sweet and took the time to answer all our questions. Jason was super and just as expected found the closes piece of paper and started taking notes as soon as the Dr's mouth opened.

And Baby Makes Three!!!

Jason and I have started this blog to keep track of not only our thoughts and feelings as we travel through this wonderful journey of parent hood, but to share it with our friends and family as well.

To help you enjoy where we are now let me give you a quick look back over the past eight years. Jason and I met at a OU vs UT football game party in October of 2000, it was truly love at first site. Although we lived in two different cities for six years we always found time to see each other. In August of 2006 a few weeks after I graduated from the University of North Texas I moved to Houston to live with Jason and attend the University of Houston-Clear Lake to get my Masters.

August turned into a busy, but exciting month for us. Jason had just moved back to Texas after living in China for eight months and was going back to school to get his MBA. On Sunday August 27th 2006 Jason got on one knee and asked me to marry him. From that day until our marriage it was a wedding event roller coaster. We spent the next year and a few months planning our special day that we could share with our friends and family and look back on as the years past. On December 22, 2007 the sun was out and shinning bright. It was a day we will always hold close to our hearts.

Six months after our wedding we were ready to share our love with a new addition to our family. Needless to say we did not have to wait long. On Thursday June 26th 2008 I took a pregnancy test and the line could not have been darker. Scared and excited I headed out the door to wally world to buy a few more test and to buy Jason's first daddies gift. In a bag I placed a pregnancy test along with two UT onesies and a UT pacifier. Now I had to wait four hours for Jason to make it home. The wait was all worth it when he opened the bag and tears filled both our eyes. We feel very blessed to be together and to be where we are in our lives. We are so excited to share this exciting moment with you. Baby Robin is due on March 4th 2009.
