Ashley and I arrived a the hospital at 7:15am. It was recommended that I call and reserve our slot 1 hr prior to our scheduled time to make sure there was room available for us. Being extremely punctual, I called 2 hours ahead, and it was a good thing because the place filled up and people were turned away later in the morning. These first two pictures are us upon check in, prior to epidural.
I will save us all the pain of looking at photos of Ashley contracting without an epidural, but it was hard to watch. after 30 minutes of what the doctor described as extremely mild contractions, Ashley was verbally threatening all within ear shot, and the anesthesiologist was summoned. The rest of the day was a comparative breeze. We were completely dilated at 3:30pm. Pushed until 3:58pm when John was born. This next picture is the doctor surprised at his size.
This next picture is me and the OB holding John. Notice she is wearing gloves, I am not. I will save us all the photos of me after holding him to my cheek the first time before giving him to the nurses for the initial cleaning. The OB was impressed with my early dedication.
The proud parents with the big guy. I have to say I look a lot happier than Ashley does here. In her defense, the doctor was still at the other end working on her 1hr of stitching.

Jason,
Congrats to you and Ashley! Your commentary is hilarious! I'm sure everyone is thankful for you sparing us the contraction and bloody cheek photos. I hope you, Ashley, and John Howard are doing well and I hope to meet him next time I'm back in Texas. Take care!
